Savli (Gujarat), Nov 2 (IANS) In Namisara village, the rural heart of Savli taluka in Vadodara district, a converted Anganwadi center is redefining early childhood education and care, rivaling the facilities of urban private play schools.
Developed through the corporate social responsibility efforts of Mahindra Excello and United Way of Vadodara, this smart Anganwadi center now provides young children with essential day-care and nutrition as well as equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for learning and development.
Once a modest facility with low attendance, the center has undergone a remarkable upgrade, including smart televisions, interactive audio-visual content and nutritious food.
Children from disadvantaged backgrounds are thriving in an environment that blends technology with traditional nutrition, ensuring holistic development from the early years.
Savitri A., Program Officer, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS). Nathji throws light on the digital leap.
“To facilitate digital education for children, we have installed a smart TV in the Anganwadi,” she explains.
“It is equipped with a pen drive loaded with audio-video stories, nursery rhymes and poems, enabling young children to absorb knowledge both visually and auditorily.”
The impact on enrollment has been profound. Where once only a handful of children attended, the center now has almost full attendance, reaching 100 percent. Ms. Nathji attributes this surge to the attractiveness of facilities like private institutions.
“Parents at Namisara 1 are delighted to enroll their children here, inspired by the high-quality provision that mirrors elite schools,” she says.
Local parents echo this sentiment, praising the comprehensive care that extends beyond the classroom.
Afrozbano Chauhan, a mother whose daughter attends the centre, shares her enthusiasm: “The children learn everything taught at Bal Mandir. They receive excellent food, including milk, fruits and a variety of nutritious dishes. My daughter returns home eager to study; she is thoroughly taught and given individual attention. She grasps concepts quickly and confidently expresses what she learns in class.”
This initiative not only provides modern education but also lays a strong foundation for the future success of the children.
Nutritious food, engaging digital resources and a supportive environment promote cognitive and emotional development, preparing them for formal schooling and beyond.
The smart Anganwadi at Namisara has emerged as a beacon for Vadodara district, inspiring the entire rural Gujarat.
By bridging the urban-rural divide in early education, it shows how collaborative partnerships can empower communities, ensuring that even the youngest villagers gain access to opportunities that were once reserved for the privileged.
