New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) The Delhi BJP on Sunday attacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj for his efforts to spread lies on the achievements of the Rekha Gupta-led government in improving the condition of polluted Yamuna and tackling air pollution.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that in an attempt to topple the BJP government, Bhardwaj has admitted that the condition of Yamuna was pathetic under his party’s rule till January 2025.

Kapoor said, “Motivated by political malice, Saurabh Bhardwaj continues to play the game of truth and lies, denying the efforts of the Rekha Gupta government in cleaning the Yamuna and reducing air pollution.”

He said, “In his eagerness to spread lies about efforts to clean the Yamuna, Bhardwaj scored a major self-goal when he said in a live video that the Yamuna has returned to its old polluted state.”

The “chronic polluted state” refers to the state in which the Arvind Kejriwal-Atishi government left the Yamuna in January-February 2025, Kapoor said.

Delhi BJP spokesperson said AAP leader Bhardwaj’s statement is an admission of the AAP government’s failure in cleaning the Yamuna despite being in power for 10 years.

He has admitted that the river has again reached the same dirty condition in which the Kejriwal government had left it in January 2025.

BJP spokesperson said that AAP leader Bhardwaj’s statement amounts to political self-interest.

He said that in politics, as in normal life, speaking too much often backfires, and today once again, Delhi’s defeated and dejected AAP spokesperson and leader Bhardwaj has “scored another political self-goal because of his habit of excessive speaking”.

Accusing the AAP leader of spreading lies, BJP leader Kapoor said in a message on Could.”

BJP leader Kapoor said, “@Saurabh_MLAGK brother, if today the government is manipulating pollution data by installing sprinklers, then why did this not happen during your time? You lie so much.”
