liverpool Owner Arne Slott paid tribute to mohammed salah His 250th goal for the club followed in a 2–0 win over Aston Villa to help stop his rot.

The Reds go into the match with the defense of their Premier League title underway after four consecutive defeats amid a comprehensive run of six defeats in seven matches in all competitions.

But Salah’s historic effort just before half-time, courtesy of a howler from the Villa goalkeeper emiliano martinezAnd Ryan Gravenberch’s deflected effort after the break gave the Reds their first league win since September 20.

Salah has had a difficult start to the season, having a chance to score into an empty net following a poor pass from Martínez, but he became the third Reds player to score 250 for the club, following in the footsteps of ian rush And Roger Hunt.

“It’s almost unbelievable. If you score 250 goals, that’s already unbelievable, let alone for one club,” Slott said.

“You don’t get to see that much in football anymore.

“And I think, apart from the goal he scored tonight, he had a very good performance.

“I also liked that not only did he do his offensive job very well, but he also helped the team defensively.

“This combination of things led to the fact that I liked his performance tonight.

“And of course, for him to score his 250th is special. For him to score is not that special, because we all know that’s what he’s always going to do.”

The Dutchman, who was facing the first questions about his Anfield reign, received clear support from the crowd throughout the match.

“It means a lot, especially because it happened at 0-0. So, not when you are leading and not when you are on top of the league, but when you are in a difficult situation as a club, as a team, and because I am part of that, certainly a part of that, it is a difficult situation for me too.

“And then the support the players got, which I got too, is what makes this club special.

“I think if you’ve been a part of something special they don’t forget, and they help you, especially if things get tough, and that was that.

“The last few weeks, things were tough. And so they felt the players, maybe me too, needed a little bit of support, and that’s what you get from these fans.

“I think if you’re at Liverpool you always feel pressure. If you’re top of the table with 15 games remaining, you feel pressure.

“And if you are in the form we were in, you feel the pressure.

“But as long as I’ve been here I’ve always felt the support of the fans, and even in the recent results, I never felt there was anything less than before.”

Villa hit the woodwork twice inside the opening 20 minutes and things might have been different if even one of those efforts had been attempted, but Martínez’s error partially ended their four-match winning streak.

Boss Unai Emery said: “We try to play with personality, through our formations and our rules.

“It was easy to advise. It was a huge mistake, but it was our process and my responsibility. I accept that.”

“We build the team here through the style we want to put into our process at the club and in our next matches.

“Of course, we must avoid big mistakes like today. But this is part of our process.”

“We will analyze and identify how we will build in these conditions for the next matches.

“Through this we are feeling comfortable and strong with our idea.”
