A police official said the arrested militants belonging to different extremist groups – Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) – were arrested from Jiribam, Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Kakching.

He said the hard-core militants were involved in various crimes, including intimidation, extortion and extortion of donations from people, government employees, contractors and others.

Some small arms, an improvised explosive device, Aadhaar/PAN cards, several mobile phones, spare SIMs and a car were recovered from the arrested terrorists.

Security forces have recovered some arms and ammunition from the mountainous Kangpokpi district in separate operations.

The recovered weapons and other war-like stores included five locally made bolt-action single-barreled guns, two wireless sets and several combat boots and uniforms.

The Manipur Police official said security forces are continuing search operations and area dominance in border, mixed-populated and sensitive areas of the districts.

According to the official, a total of 115 checkpoints/checkpoints were established in various districts of Manipur, both in the hill and valley areas, to prevent untoward and illegal activities of enemy elements and suspicious vehicles.

He said security forces have provided escort to a large number of vehicles carrying essential commodities on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37).

Strict security measures are taken at all sensitive locations, and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles.
