chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor is charged mary earps of being disrespectful to his lioness successor hannah hampton,

In his new book, Earps claims he told Sarina Wigman that “bad behavior is being rewarded” following the England manager’s decision to recall Hampton into the team.

Goalkeeper Earps played a key role in the Lionesses’ European Championship victory in 2022 and their run to the World Cup final the following year.

However, when Hampton was cut from several teams – the Earps wrote in his autobiography, in allwhich is being sorted PatronThat the Chelsea goalkeeper’s “behavior behind the scenes at the Euros (in 2022) often threatened to derail training sessions and team resources” – Earlier this year, Hampton overtook the Earps to become England No. 1.

Bompster came out in support of Hampton, and criticized the Earps, speaking after Chelsea’s 2–0 Women’s Super League win over London City Lions.

“From what I’ve read in the context of Mary Earps’ comments, it is not acceptable to not show respect for your teammates or managers,” he said. “I think there’s a class of them, and Hannah is class one.”

When Wiegman first talked about Hampton’s return to the Lionesses set-up in early 2023, Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Earps said he told the England manager: “‘It doesn’t make me feel comfortable,’ He doesn’t need to be reminded of the disharmony the team felt earlier.

“I felt protective of the good energy present in goalkeeper training and the morale of the wider team. Rewarding certain behaviors went against the same core values of creating a healthy and happy place for players of all experience to work and flourish, at least not in a team environment ahead of the World Cup.”

The following year, Hampton was named ahead of the Earps for the European Championship qualifiers.

Earps said he told Wiegman: “‘I don’t understand… This is a qualifier match. And bad behavior is being rewarded.’ It felt unfair. Tears welled up in my eyes. It was a choice that went against my core values. The affinity I had for Sarina and this job – to which I had dedicated every last cell of my being – was being destroyed, trust and respect were being lost.”

Earps, 32, announced his shock international retirement ahead of the Euros, in which Hampton saved two spot-kicks in the penalty shoot-out in England’s final win against Spain as the Lionesses defended their title.

In an interview with the Guardian, Earps said of Hampton: “I think we had different ideas about being team-mates. I think there was a mismatch in values, a misalignment.

“I don’t want to go into specific details because it’s not my place. She’s a very good goalkeeper and I’ve tried to draw a line under all that. I’ve messaged her privately to say: ‘Look, no one is bad.’
