Meyers targeted Thursday night Trump’s speech to members of the US military earlier this week on board USS George Washington Aircraft carriers in Japan. There, Trump asked the audience to vote which type of catapult is better for aircraft carriers: steam or electric. Many spectators shouted, “Steam!”
“They’re spending billions of dollars to build stupid power,” Trump said. “And the problem is, when it breaks down, you have to send up to MIT, get the most talented people in the world, weed them out, it’s ridiculous.”

Meyers played a portion of Trump’s comments for his audience before commenting: “Guy spends more time thinking about slingshots than Wile E. Coyote.”
“After that, they start complaining about how our soldiers don’t arm themselves with rockets anymore,” Meyers said.
Meyers, imitating Trump, continued: “We used to tie our soldiers to rockets, and they loved it, but then everybody woke up and they said, ‘You can’t tie a person to a rocket.’ But we remember those days and we are bringing them back.”
This is not the first time Trump has targeted Meyers. In August, Trump moved Late one night he heard a “rumor” that NBC had extended Mayer’s contract. — even though the network signed a four-year extension with Meyers last year.
