New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Sunday accused the Punjab government of trying to suppress media coverage of her recent allegations against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by disrupting newspaper distribution across the state.
Maliwal wrote on social media platform
“Media houses are being threatened that if they cover this news or feature Swati Maliwal, their government advertisements will be stopped. Dictatorship at its peak!” He added.
The comments come after a series of posts by Maliwal on Saturday, in which he reiterated his attack on Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing them of misusing government resources and building a lavish residential complex, which he called “Sheesh Mahal 2.0”, in Punjab.
As per Maliwal’s claims, the two-acre, seven-star government bungalow located in Sector 2, Chandigarh, which was originally designated for the Punjab Chief Minister, has reportedly been allotted to Kejriwal. He further alleged that two additional government-owned luxury bungalows in Sector 39, No. 960, reportedly for former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and No. 926 for former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, have also been occupied by AAP leaders who have shifted from Delhi.
“Possession of government property is a crime,” Maliwal said. He alleged that the Punjab government has provided similar facilities to many Delhi-based AAP officials currently residing in Chandigarh.
He also claimed that Kejriwal had recently traveled from the bungalow complex to Ambala in a government helicopter before flying to Gujarat in a Punjab government jet for party-related work.
Aam Aadmi Party and Punjab government have not yet responded to Maliwal’s latest allegations.
