Nine couples were married Friday inside a former county jail in central Ohio that had been decorated for Halloween.

The vows were exchanged in an 18-cell jail building in Delaware County, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the north. COLUMBUS,

These days the 1878 structure is owned by the Delaware County Historical Society, but until 1988 it served as the county lockup.

Andrea Bates and Jessica Scales decided to get married about a month ago — Bates had already decided that if she ever got married, it would be on Halloween.

“I feel like I have a weird connection with Halloween. My daughter’s name is it.” SalemSo, this is just my favorite. The horror of that time, the atmosphere, I just love it,” she said.

Halloween is also Nicole’s favorite holiday deeply concerned and Jacob Beatty, who married after being together for a decade.

Beatty said, “I think we were both looking for an excuse to get married and this opportunity presented itself and we took it.” “So it was a really cool, unique experience and kind of right up our alley.”

Bond said he had good plans after the ceremony.

“Eat some lunch, take a nap and then go trick-or-treating,” she said.

Court officials in Delaware County hold weddings every other Friday, and when they learned that Halloween fell on a Friday this year, they started planning weddings in the jailhouse.

Court staff dressed up in costumes and decorated the place with pumpkins and spider webs. Couples were provided a way to take mugshot-style photos.

Organizers limited the number of weddings to 10 and nine couples turned up. There is no information about whether the bride and groom who did not come were scared or not.
