armory ready for a collision course with crystal Palace after the manager mikel arteta Claims that it would not be “fair” if this happened Carabao Cup A quarter-final situation has arisen between the two sides.

The Gunners are set to face Palace on December 16th oliver glassnerThe team – which hosted Manchester City in the Premier League on 14 December and then hosted KuPS in the Conference League on 18 December, also on home soil – faced three matches in just five days.

The Palace wants to move the competition in the Emirates to next week, possibly December 23, while Christmas Eve is also being considered. But it is understood Arsenal’s preferred option is the last-eight clash on December 16.

“I don’t think it’s fair (if the match is rescheduled) because we also have other competitions,” Arteta said.

“At the start of the season we knew what competitions each club was playing in, so on balance we had to try to accommodate everyone in the best possible way.”

Arteta’s Arsenal are currently on a run of seven matches in 22 days and face Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday to extend their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Fixture congestion has been a hot topic in recent seasons, with Manchester City’s Rodri claiming last year that players could strike if the schedule was extended further.

Arteta added: “Any decision we make in the context of a match must be directed at two main things; the welfare of the players, and then the supporters, and that’s it, and everything else has to come very, very far from that. And we must never forget that principle.

“If we have that big piece of paper with those two principles before we make any decisions, all of us in our industry will never get there. If we don’t do that and we ignore it, anything is possible.

“If we take care of the welfare of the players and our supporters we will never reach that point (strike).

“We have to close the window there. We can’t open that window. It has to be closed. That’s our most precious value. We have the best league in the world and we can’t open any window for anything to lose that because we don’t respect that, and we forget what we’re made of and what makes this game and this league so special. And if we respect that, I’m sure we’ll be totally fine.”

Arsenal booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after securing their eighth consecutive win with a 2-0 win over Brighton at the Emirates on Wednesday.

William Saliba Was absent for the midweek match at the Emirates but could be available for the trip to Burnley. However, gabriel martinelli, call maduyke, martin odegaard And kai havertz Everyone remains aside.

Premier League leaders hope the quartet including Havertz – who has not featured since the opening weekend of the season – can return for the north London derby against Tottenham on November 23.
