There are a total of 7.42 crore voters in Bihar, of which 3.92 crore are men and 3.5 crore are women. There are also 4 lakh senior citizen voters, of whom at least 14,000 are above 100 years of age, and 14 lakh are first-time voters.
Ahead of the elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued procedures to guarantee a seamless election process. Many voters who do not have a physical voter ID card need not worry, as they can still cast their vote using other approved identity documents.
According to the ECI, although the Voter’s Identity Card (EPIC) is the preferred identification, it is not mandatory for voting. Instead, voters whose names are listed in the electoral roll can show any one of the 12 valid photo ID proofs at the polling booth to confirm their identity.
Documents Required
Here are 12 documents that can be used as identity proof at the polling booth.
- Voter ID Card
- Passport
- driving license
