Bhubaneswar, Oct 31 (IANS) Former Odisha Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced the launch of the campaign in the Nuapada by-election on November 3, party sources said.
In a video message released, the former Chief Minister said that he will visit Komna block of Nuapada assembly constituency and talk to the people there.
“Jai Jagannath! My greetings to the dear brothers and sisters of Komna. I will be visiting Komna on November 3. I look forward to meeting you all and saying a few words,” Patnaik said in the video message with his famous tagline ‘Aapana Mane Khushita’ (Are you happy?).
Excited Bharatiya Janata Dal (BJD) workers and leaders claimed that Patnaik’s Nuapada visit would prove to be a game changer in the Nuapada by-election.
Everyone is eagerly waiting to know what issues BJD President Naveen Patnaik is going to raise during his visit to this important assembly constituency.
Ahead of the BJD supremo’s visit, campaigning for the by-election in Nuapada assembly constituency has intensified and senior leaders of various political parties are leaving no stone unturned to influence the voters.
Meanwhile, the political atmosphere has become heated, with the ruling BJP and the opposition BJD and Congress leveling allegations against each other.
Recently, BJD youth and student wings protested in Nuapada, alleging that the district collector and superintendent of police were acting like “star campaigners” for the BJP government.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders claimed that the BJD supremo’s campaign will have no impact on the November 11 bypoll in Nuapada.
Earlier on Thursday, Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said every political party has the democratic right to campaign for its candidate, noting that the BJD had faced defeat in the 2024 general elections despite Patnaik’s campaign.
Minister Pujari said that BJP is not worried about who will campaign for the opposition, as the party is completely focused on its own activities, strategies and programmes.
However, the minister said the real impact of the campaign would be known only after the election results are declared.
