According to Civil Disaster Control Chief Sachin Kadam, the fire broke out in the premises located in the market area at around 9 am. Five fire tenders were sent to the spot – two from Vashi fire department and one each from Nerul, Airoli and Koparkhairane.

Chief Fire Officer Purushottam Jadhav said, “Vashi fire brigade vehicles immediately reached here and after reaching here it was found that the fire was extensive… Water bowsers were called here. The fire is under control now… No casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire is not yet known, perhaps it was caused by a short circuit.”

The fire has been brought under control and cooling operations are underway, Kadam said.
A video circulated on social media shows the fire and fire fighting efforts that broke out in the Swiggy Instamart kitchen. The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still being assessed.
