Bengaluru, Oct 30 (IANS) Amid the controversy over the Karnataka tunnel project, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar launched a scathing attack on Bengaluru South MP Tejaswi Surya, calling him “immature, inexperienced and useless material”.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said that Tejasvi Surya is “still a boy” and “lacks experience”.
He said, “Who is this Tejasvi Surya who is saying that the tunnel road project should not be implemented? First let him become a Union Minister and then bring a resolution in Parliament to ban tunnel roads in the country and across the world.”
Asked about Tejasvi Surya’s statement that the tunnel road project should have been planned after consulting experts, Shivakumar said, “Out of courtesy, I allowed him to meet and talk, and now he keeps saying whatever he wants to say. But I will not stoop to his level and comment on him. Tejasvi Surya does not even understand how the world works.”
“Why is he traveling in a car?” Shivkumar asked sarcastically.
“I once said that girls do not marry boys who do not have a car. He stands by that statement. Then why is he moving around in a car? Let him and his family members travel by metro or government buses. Let BJP MLAs use metro trains, autorickshaws and public transport. Who has forbidden? Then why do they need cars? There are over 1.3 crore vehicles in Bengaluru – can someone tell all of them to stop using their vehicles? Can you say for?” He retorted.
When asked about Tejasvi Surya’s alleged comment that the tunnel road project was being started to help Shivakumar in his daughter’s marriage, the Deputy CM replied, “That’s why I called him immature. Can you (journalists) carry cameras and travel in public transport to cover events? Can school children be sent to school using public transport instead of school vehicles?”
“This state got the Metro because of us. What did they do when they were in power? What did they bring from the Centre? How many pillars did they erect for the Metro? How much money did they get? The central government contributes only 11 to 12 per cent of the project cost. We bear all the expenses including land acquisition,” Shivakumar said.
Shivkumar said that if senior BJP leader R. If Ashok, CN Ashwath Narayan, Basavaraj Bommai, or Jagadish Shettar tell something, he will answer because they understand these matters.
