Hostage terror: Mumbai man kidnaps 20 children, threatens to harm them; Police saved everyone

A Mumbai man, identified as Rohit Arya, took at least 20 children hostage at a studio in the city on Thursday, October 30, police said.

The man has threatened to harm children in a video released by him. Mumbai Police later rescued all the children and are investigating the man’s motive behind this act, reports News18.

He released a video saying that he initially wanted to die by suicide but changed his plan.

According to news agency ANI, Mumbai Police said in a statement, “A man named Rohit Arya has taken some children hostage in Mumbai’s Powai area. He has released a video in which he has allegedly said that he wants to talk to some people and if he is not allowed to do so, he will set everything on fire and harm himself and the children. It seems that the man is mentally unstable and the police are trying to handle the case.”

“All the children have been safely rescued from the spot. The man, Rohit Arya, has been taken into custody by the police. The police are talking to him and trying to find out why he took such a step and whether he is indeed mentally unstable,” it said.
