stevie nicks And lindsey buckingham The unexpected reconciliation between the former bandmates and lovers appears to have confirmed that they are back on speaking terms.

The pair, who formed the musical duo Buckingham Nicks before joining Fleetwood Mac In 1975, appeared on music podcasts song explorer To discuss the making of their 1973 track “Frozen Love”.

Recalling the moment she met Buckingham in high school in California in 1966, Nicks said: “Lindsay and I started talking about it last night,” adding that she was “calling her later”.

In separate recorded interviews, she and Buckingham detailed how they met after she joined the band Fritz, which brought success to many artists including Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

However, producer Keith Olsen told the musicians that they would have better success as a musical duo and so they began work on their own. Nicks said, “It was an invitation to greatness and we both knew it.”

The singer said that she does not think that she and Buckingham’s relationship would have been as turbulent had it not been for Fritz.

“It brought us together, because we couldn’t figure it out,” she said. “And then we fell in love with each other and that was that.”

Speaking about “Frozen Love”, released under the Buckingham Nicks name in 1973, she said the track was “about two people who were in love, who had a lot of differences and saw the world a little differently, but their relationship felt like a gift”.

The singer continued: “Our relationship was up-and-down, up-and-down, up-and-down, and difficult, but also, fantastic. And what we were doing was so wonderful, that it was worth enduring the trials and tribulations of a difficult relationship.”

Nicks revealed that the lyric “hate gave me for a lover” was actually written as “fate gave you for a lover”.
