Ahmedabad, Oct 30 (IANS) To pay tribute to India’s Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct an aerial display over the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya on October 31 to mark Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) and to commemorate the leader’s 150th birth anniversary.

The highlight of the event will be the spectacular aerial display by the renowned nine-aircraft Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) of the Indian Air Force, known for its precision, discipline and dazzling formations. The team will paint the sky in the vibrant colors of the Indian tricolor, a symbol of national pride and unity.

Adding to the spectacular view, Indian Air Force helicopters will ceremoniously drop flower petals on the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, in honor of the leader who united India’s princely states and laid the foundation of a strong, unified nation.

National Unity Day, established by the Central Government, reaffirms the country’s commitment towards unity, integrity and security. The festival has special significance in Kevadiya, which is held on the serene banks of the Narmada River, where the monumental statue stands as a permanent reminder of Sardar Patel’s legacy.

The grand event is expected to attract a large crowd of visitors and citizens to witness the synchronous accuracy of the Surya Kiran structure and the symbolic floral salute from the sky.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin his two-day visit to Gujarat on Thursday, on the occasion he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of infrastructure and development projects worth over Rs 1,140 crore in Ekta Nagar in Kevadiya.

The projects to be inaugurated include Birsa Munda Tribal University in Rajpipla, Vaman Vriksha Vatika, an e-bus charging depot and 25 new electric buses, which aim to promote eco-friendly transportation in the region. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for several upcoming projects, including the Museum of Royal Empires of India, a sports complex, jetty development near Shoolpaneshwar Ghat and travelators at the Statue of Unity, designed to enhance tourist convenience and experience.

Tomorrow Prime Minister Modi will participate in the National Unity Day celebrations and pay floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary.

He will also administer the Unity Day Pledge and review the Unity Day Parade, which this year will include a special BSF marching contingent with Indian breed dogs including Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds.
