New Delhi, Oct 30 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a road show and address a huge public rally in Motipur under Muzaffarpur and Baruraj assembly constituencies of Chhapra on Thursday as part of his campaign for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

The Prime Minister is expected to make a strong pitch to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) while reiterating his earlier promise to revive the historic Motipur sugar mill, which was once a symbol of the economic vitality of the region. PM Modi had earlier promised to restart the mill and famously remarked that tea made from its sugar would be a sweet testament to Bihar’s development.

Announcing his visit on social media platform

Meanwhile, PM Modi formally launched the NDA’s campaign for the Bihar assembly elections on October 24 with rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai. Earlier, he had started the election campaign from Karpoorigram by paying tribute to former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, whose legacy has been inspiring the politics of social justice in the state.

PM Modi has often praised Thakur’s contribution in empowering marginalized people and advocating equality. Last year, his government honored the socialist leader with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour. In July, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Karpurigram station with an investment of Rs 3.3 crore, indicating the NDA’s commitment to preserving Thakur’s memory.

Meanwhile, the political atmosphere in Bihar has become quite heated. On Wednesday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the Joint Grand Alliance rally in Muzaffarpur, made a scathing attack on the Prime Minister.

The Congress leader accused PM Modi of “doing anything for votes”, alleging that the BJP is “stealing elections” in the states. “He just wants your vote. If you ask him to dance for votes, he will dance,” LoP Gandhi said, reiterating his “vote theft” claims.

As the campaign is gaining momentum, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also holding a series of rallies in Begusarai, Samastipur and Darbhanga, energizing NDA workers and supporters across the state.

Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the counting of votes will take place on November 14. The Election Commission has already announced the election schedule for the 243-member Assembly.

With this announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the entire state. In the first phase, voting will be held in 121 constituencies, while in the second phase, voting will be held in 122 constituencies.
