Bhopal, Oct 29 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti on Wednesday said cow conservation and prohibition should be linked together to promote cow milk consumption across the state.
BJP leader Bharti said she would run a campaign in the state to encourage people to drink cow milk instead of alcohol.
He said that this decision will encourage people to rear cows, which will increase milk production.
He made this statement during a program – ‘Gau Samvardhan’ (cow conservation) in Bhopal.
The event was organized by an NGO called Maa Beti Bai Foundation.
Speaking to media persons after attending the event, BJP leader Bharti said, “We will run a campaign to encourage people for cow conservation and discourage them from drinking alcohol. We have to increase the number of cows in every household in the state.”
Meanwhile, he also proposed that the state government should provide at least one cow to each Ladli Brahmin Yojana beneficiary in Madhya Pradesh.
BJP leader Bharti said, “This step (providing cows) to the beneficiaries of Ladli Brahmin Yojana will help them increase their income from Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000-10,000 per month. And they will become self-reliant.”
Highlighting the importance of expanding animal resources, he said the current cow population in India is about one for every seven people.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Bharti also praised Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for his efforts to promote milk production and animal husbandry to ensure financial benefits for farmers.
