The Weld County Coroner’s Office released a statement last week identifying human remains found in a home in Lochabuie, Colorado, as those of 56-year-old Terry Ackerman, who was reported missing seven years ago, according to 9 news,
Ackerman was last seen by her husband on August 24, 2018.
Police in Lochbuie were alerted to its discovery on September 10, 2025 human remains In the house where Ackerman once lived.
Lochbuie Police Public Information Officer Lieutenant Stephanie Southard would not confirm who made the original call to police regarding the remains, as the situation is still under active investigation.

After Ackerman’s disappearance, police conducted multiple searches on the property with the assistance of cadaver dogs and drones and Rampart Search and Rescue, as well as other law enforcement agencies.
According to the department, investigators conducted multiple interviews with people close to Ackerman and others who had information, but were able to obtain only limited information about the woman.
At the time of her disappearance, Ackerman’s daughter told Denver7 that her mother was suffering from bipolar disorder as well as other mental health issues.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is continuing to assist the police department in investigating the woman’s disappearance.
Joey Weiner, chief deputy coroner for the Weld County Coroner’s Office, said in the news release that the cause and manner of Ackerman’s death are still under investigation and will be disclosed when the full autopsy report is completed.
