Patna, October 29 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday strongly condemned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and termed them highly objectionable and irresponsible.

Addressing a press conference at a private hotel in Dehri town of Rohtas, Saini said, “It is the leaders of the India Bloc who are dancing – sometimes in the name of alleged vote rigging, and sometimes on the stage with a copy of the sacred Constitution in their hands. Rahul Gandhi has nothing left to say or do.”

He further accused the Congress of being directionless and divided.

Saini said, “The Congress party has neither a policy, nor an intention, nor a leadership. The entire country has completely rejected the India Bloc.”

Saini’s comments came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s statement at a rally in Muzaffarpur, where the Congress leader had said that Prime Minister Modi would dance on the stage if voters asked – a comment that has drawn strong criticism from NDA leaders.

Joining the chorus of condemnation, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also targeted Rahul Gandhi, saying such comments tarnish India’s global image.

“By making such derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Modi, Rahul Gandhi is maligning the image of the country. Grand alliance leaders can say anything for votes – they can defame the country, make personal attacks or abuse someone’s mother, if it helps them politically,” Gupta said.

He further said, “They are ‘thief-thief cousins’.” If the leaders of the Grand Alliance think that they can fool the people of Bihar, then they are wrong. The people of Bihar may be innocent, but not stupid. They have seen development under the NDA government and will continue to support us.

Rahul Gandhi’s comments in Muzaffarpur – where he accused Prime Minister Modi of doing anything for votes – have sparked a political uproar, with BJP and NDA leaders in the states demanding an apology and accusing the Congress leader of disrespecting public sentiment.
