Nothing can be more insulting than this: Shaina NC criticizes Congress for playing Bangladesh national anthem

Mumbai: After Bangladesh’s national anthem, “Amar Sonar Bangla”, was sung at a Congress meeting in Assam’s Karimganj district, Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC on Wednesday condemned the incident, calling it “disgraceful and shameful”.

His reaction came after a video of the incident, purportedly from a Congress Seva Dal meeting held in Sribhoomi town, went viral on social media, leading to a political uproar. Many users criticized the Congress party for this action.

Speaking to IANS, Shaina NC said, “Assam Congress played the national anthem of Bangladesh, and they did the same at Indira Bhavan. I think nothing can be more disrespectful or shameful than this. The national anthem represents our patriotism and nationalism. If someone wants to sing the national anthem of another country here, they should leave India.”

The Shiv Sena leader also reacted to the ongoing controversy over the nationwide Special Intensive Review (SIR) 2.0.

He told IANS, “A nationwide SIR is extremely important to strengthen democracy. The exercise will cover 12 states, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar and several Union Territories, and will reach about 51 crore voters, as announced by the Election Commission. This is no small initiative. When Gyanesh Kumar announced this, it was worthy of everyone’s approval.”

Reacting to Trinamool Congress (TMC) minister Firhad Hakim’s comment, Shaina NC said, “Who is this West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim who says, ‘If CAA is implemented, we will break your legs’? Perhaps he should understand that people have already rejected him – and are now rejecting Mamata Banerjee too. Be it CAA, NRC or SIR, he can keep spreading falsehoods.” But we will continue to do our work.”

A day earlier, Firhad Hakim had issued a brazen warning, threatening to “break the legs” of BJP leaders and Election Commission officials if the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) or SIR is implemented in West Bengal.
