fade: Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will reach her constituency on Thursday on a two-day visit in which she will participate in several public programs in Wayanad and Malappuram districts.
Last year, around this time, the Congress leader had filed his nomination papers following the resignation of his brother and former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, who had opted to retain the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat.
Priyanka Gandhi registered a decisive victory in the Wayanad by-election in November 2024 by securing more than four lakh votes.
Since then, he has maintained a visible and active presence in his constituency, which extends to parts of Wayanad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts.
During his recent 10-day visit earlier this month, the Congress leader toured extensively in different parts of the constituency, interacting with locals, farmers, sports personalities, students and representatives of various sectors.
Party leaders said the upcoming visit is aimed at following up on that outreach.
Sultan Bathery MLA and senior Congress leader IC Balakrishnan said, “This visit is essentially a continuation of his earlier visit.”
“Priyanka Gandhi will visit several parts of Wayanad and Malappuram. In my constituency, she will unveil a statue of Mahatma Gandhi and participate in public programs in Kalpetta and surrounding areas.”
Party sources said her itinerary includes meetings with local community groups, self-help women’s groups and youth representatives.
The visit is expected to further strengthen her connection with voters as she continues to strengthen her role as a hands-on parliamentarian.
Priyanka Gandhi, who took charge as Wayanad MP last year, has made repeated visits to the constituency to assess issues such as lack of infrastructure, agricultural challenges and environmental concerns affecting the hilly district.
Their two-day engagement is expected to end on Friday evening.
Recently, Priyanka Gandhi had criticized the central government for not waiving off the loans of the Wayanad landslide victims.
