New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS) Singer and BJP candidate from Bihar’s Alinagar assembly constituency Maithili Thakur on Wednesday strongly criticized RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s recent election promise that if his party comes to power, one person in every household in Bihar will get a government job, calling it nothing but “impractical magic”.
In a sharp reaction, Thakur said such promises are unrealistic and only serve to mislead the public.
She said, “I am unable to understand how one person in every household can get a government job. The government also has its own limits when it comes to such employment.”
“If we really want jobs and opportunities in Bihar, we need to set up industries here. Saying that every household will get a government job sounds like magic – it is not practical or possible,” he said.
Thakur’s statement comes at a time when unemployment remains one of the most pressing issues in Bihar, with political parties offering competing visions for employment generation.
While the BJP has focused on industrial investment and skill development, the RJD is making broader promises focused on direct government employment.
Tejashwi Yadav had vowed during his recent campaign rally that “not a single house in Bihar will be left without a government job.”
He said that if voted to power, his government will bring a law within 20 days to guarantee at least one government job per family and this promise will be implemented within 20 months.
The pledge, titled ‘Bihar ka Tejaswi Pran’, included in the manifesto of the RJD-led grand alliance, has attracted both enthusiasm and skepticism from voters and political observers alike.
Critics argue that Bihar’s financial and administrative structure cannot sustain such large-scale recruitment, while supporters see it as an ambitious plan to tackle unemployment.
The political battle in Bihar is intensifying as the state prepares for the upcoming assembly elections to be held on November 6 and 11 and the results to be declared on November 14.
