Toby, 29, from Warwickshire, said: “It’s hard to come back from being served a pile of mousseline… I made a good comeback today… It’s the good bits that are hard for me to talk about.
“The best thing about being in the tent is definitely the people. The handshake was nice, Star Baker was nice, but yes the people were the best.”
judge paul hollywood Said: “It took a while for Prue and I to discuss everything. It shows how difficult things are on Bake Off. It led to that one mistake and unfortunately Toby’s downfall.”
Dame Prue Leith said: “I think Toby was kind of our least confident baker when we started. He’s learned a lot. He’s a really talented baker.”

Reflecting on the experience, Toby said: “To be honest, I was expecting it.
“After the technical glitch I knew it would take something incredible to pull it back, and as close as it was, my showstopper didn’t quite cut it.
“After the announcement I felt very overwhelmed with emotions and as my post judging interview may have revealed I really struggled to keep it in any shape.

“As soon as Tom looked at me with teary eyes, he released me.
“I was obviously disappointed to hear my name called because there was a slight glimmer of hope after I managed to pull off a completely reimagined showstopper but overall I felt very proud of myself.”
Baker, who grew up in the seaside town of Sidmouth with his three siblings, said he felt “much more confident” in himself after his time on the show.
Discussing the future he said: “I would love to keep doing this in any capacity.
“I think for now I’ll take any opportunity to bake for people online or in person and one day… maybe in the future, I’d love to have my own bakeware line of high quality items that are accessible to hobbyist bakers.”
