New Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS) Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will share his views and pay tribute to ‘Iron Man of India’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at an event in the Delhi Assembly on Thursday, Speaker Vijendra Gupta said.

Khan will attend a symposium on ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his valuable contributions to the unity of India’ as the chief guest and keynote speaker to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the ‘Iron Man of India’.

Gupta said the program is an initiative to pay tribute to the unique contribution of Sardar Patel in promoting a unified and resilient nation.

He said that Niranjanaben Kalarthi, Administrator of Swaraj Ashram, Bardoli (Gujarat) will be the special guest in this program.

The Assembly Speaker said that on this occasion an exhibition will also be organized in the Assembly premises.

The exhibition will include rare archival photographs, dedicated coins, stamps, books and historical documents that trace the illustrious journey of Sardar Patel, a leader who transformed resistance into nationalism and vision into enduring institutions.

He said the exhibit aims to provide valuable information about their important role in uniting the princely states and shaping the democratic foundations of modern India.

The Speaker said that the Delhi Assembly is committed to promoting awareness about the rich heritage of India and the contributions of its great leaders.

He said, through such commemorative programmes, the Assembly reaffirms its dedication to upholding the values of unity, integrity and good governance for which Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel stood, inspiring generations to work towards a stronger and more harmonious nation.

Earlier this month, Gupta visited the British Library in London to view colonial-era archival material, rare photographs and manuscripts of the House.

The specially designed exhibition traces the journey from the Imperial Legislative Council and the Central Legislative Assembly to the present Delhi Assembly, an official of the Delhi Assembly Secretariat said in a statement.

Gupta said, “The study of legislative history is not just an academic exercise, but a way to connect with the foundations of India’s democratic journey. These invaluable records will inspire our lawmakers, scholars and youth to understand the evolution of governance and strengthen the democratic values enshrined in our Constitution.”

He said that legislative history should be studied seriously so that future policy makers can take lessons from the past while shaping the laws of tomorrow.
