Patna: Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday criticized Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishor for possessing two voter ID cards, one of which is registered in Bihar and the other in West Bengal.
Janata Dal (United) MLC and chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar launched a scathing attack on Kishor, questioning how his name appeared in the voter list of Kolkata’s Kalighat area, which is affiliated with the Trinamool Congress.
“Prashant Kishor lectures people on migration from Bihar while being a voter in West Bengal. It is understandable that your name is in the voter list of Bihar, your native place or even Delhi, where you have your business, but how can your name be in the voter list of Kolkata under a TMC address?” Neeraj Kumar asked.
Drawing an analogy, he said, “Just as Bangladeshi infiltrators obtained Aadhaar cards in Bihar, Prashant Kishor got himself enrolled in the voter list of Kolkata. They should clarify how this happened.”
According to details shared by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Kishor’s name is listed in Karghar assembly constituency (209) and Rohtas Lok Sabha constituency (34) of Rohtas district of Bihar with EPIC number IUI3123718.
Another voter ID card of Kishor, IUI686683, belongs to Bhawanipur assembly constituency (159) and Kolkata South Lok Sabha constituency (23) in West Bengal.
Prashant Kishore has not yet given any reaction on this controversy.
Kishor, who often criticizes the Bihar government on issues such as “unemployment and migration”, recently alleged that the youth of Bihar are being forced to leave the state due to “wrong priorities” of its leaders.
He had said, “People voted for Narendra Modi for the temple – he built it. They voted for Nitish Kumar in the name of caste – he conducted the caste survey. But the factories are being built in Gujarat, not in Bihar. The youth of Bihar are working there for just Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 per month.”
Prashant Kishore is currently campaigning for his party’s candidates across Bihar, but he is not contesting the elections himself.
Voting will be held in two phases in Bihar on November 6 and 11 and the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
