Chennai, Oct 28 (IANS) Nam Tamil Katchi (NTK) coordinator Seeman on Tuesday wondered why no case was registered against actor-actor-actor-actor-actor-actor-actor-actor in connection with the Karur stampede that took 41 lives during a Tamilaga Vettari Kazhagam (TVK) event.
Speaking to reporters in Tirunelveli, Seeman alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was working slowly in Vijay’s case due to political reasons.
“Had Vijay not aligned with BJP, the CBI investigation would have been expedited. It seems the agency is protecting him,” he said.
Seeman further claimed that the compensation of Rs 20 lakh distributed by Vijay to each bereaved family was aimed at silencing him.
“Vijay paid off the affected families so that they would not say anything. But the question is why no case was registered against him? How can the CBI investigation be fair if the main person responsible is left out of the FIR?” he asked.
The NTK leader also questioned the conduct of TVK general secretary ‘Busi’ Anand, who had earlier sought anticipatory bail during the state police investigation but withdrew his plea after the case was transferred to the CBI.
“Why did Anand withdraw his anticipatory bail plea after CBI got into his hands? Does CBI have a role in saving Vijay?”. Seaman asked clearly.
He urged Chief Minister MK Stalin to explain why Vijay’s name was kept out of the FIR despite mounting evidence and public outcry.
Seeman said, “If Vijay’s name is not taken then the CBI investigation will be just a sham.”
Turning to politics, Seeman announced that NTK’s state conference will be held in Tiruchirappalli on February 7, during which the party will announce all its assembly constituency candidates.
He said, “Don’t consider the Tiruchi conference as a turning point; our turning point is in our ideology. When people’s minds change, they can defeat any party in the elections.”
Concluding his remarks, Seeman drew a clear line between his movement and film-based politics.
He declared, “Those who care about the country should stand with me. Those who chase actors should not chase me.”
