New Delhi, October 28 (IANS) Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Tuesday wrote a letter to party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal demanding a detailed investigation into the viral ‘defamatory’ video related to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Maliwal shared a two-page letter on his
He said that such ‘shameful’ conduct has brought great disrepute to the party and should be considered extremely serious and therefore requires an immediate and detailed investigation.
He said, “An objectionable video of Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann is going viral on social media. The person who has made this video viral is said to be an old friend of CM Mann. The person is claiming that he has 8 more such videos.”
Appealing to the party supremo, he said, “If the videos are genuine, then action should be initiated against CM Mann and if they are AI-generated, then those spreading fake videos should be punished.”
Stepping up the attack further, Maliwal accused CM Mann of ‘alcoholism’ and claimed that Mann has a reputation of holding government meetings and press conferences in an inebriated state and hence it is necessary to investigate the viral video to “protect the interests and reputation” of the party.
“Public discussion on this issue is causing huge damage to the party’s image and people’s trust in us. The truth should come out without any delay,” the AAP MLA demanded in the letter.
He said that the silence of the party supremo would harm the interests of the party and hence, it is important to conduct an impartial and independent forensic investigation without any delay to find out the truth.
He demanded that accountability should be fixed and whoever is responsible for this act of sacrilege should be punished.
Swati Maliwal, elected to Rajya Sabha on AAP ticket in 2024, parted ways with the party and supremo Kejriwal after the infamous incident of alleged attack on the then Delhi CM’s residence.
Earlier this year, Maliwal was detained by the police for throwing garbage in a truck outside the residence of former CM Kejriwal.
