Dehradun, October 27 (IANS) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday said migration is a big problem and important schemes are underway to stop it, strengthen the local economy and promote tourism. An officer gave this information.
Speaking at an event in Tehri Garhwal district, the Chief Minister said that through the House of Himalaya brand, local products are getting wide recognition domestically and internationally.
He said, policies like Farm Machinery Bank, Film Policy, Apple Mission and Homestay are working to strengthen the local economy.
Dhami was speaking at the inauguration and flag hoisting of the nine-day 49th Shri Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair in Tehri Garhwal district, an official said.
At the inauguration ceremony, CM Dhami made several announcements and approved the beautification of canals, buildings, roads and temples.
Earlier in the day, he met Narendra Jit Singh Bindra, chairman of Gurdwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust in Dehradun, to discuss improvements related to infrastructure and logistics for the upcoming visit.
Bindra told the Chief Minister that a record 275,000 pilgrims from India and across the world participated in this year’s Hemkunt Sahib Yatra.
During the Kunjapuri Mela event, Dhami also inaugurated the Development Exhibition, inspected the stalls set up by various departments and garlanded the statues of immortal martyrs and the Freedom Fighters Memorial.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the work of preserving India’s glorious cultural heritage is being done effectively.
Dhami said, under the guidance of PM Modi, the state government is committed to the overall development of Uttarakhand and is continuously working to conserve religious sites and preserve its identity.
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement Uniform Civil Code.
Furthermore, by implementing a strong anti-plagiarism law, transparent employment has been provided to more than 26,000 youth in the last four years.
He mentioned initiatives like stopping religious conversion and demolishing illegal encroachments, which have given a new status and identity to the state. He said that the state government is committed to making Uttarakhand a leading state.
