Wardley got a shot at the biggest name in heavyweight on Saturday night, Stopping Joseph Parker in the 11th round at the O2 Arena To become the WBO interim world champion and mandatory challenger for Usyk’s title.
But despite the success, Chisora believes Wardley will lose to the Ukrainian. Chisora is certainly aware of Usyk’s skills, with “Del Boy” soundly defeated by the two-division world champion in 2020.
Instead of facing Usyk now, Chisora believes Wardley should take time to further improve and instead face former IBF champion Dubois.
He told BoxNation: “He won’t be able to beat Usyk. Take some time, fight Daniel. It’s a fight, him and Daniel.”
Wardley came up short in the bout with Parker, with critics highlighting his lack of experience and limited skills compared to the Kiwi. The 30-year-old showed a different side to his game against the former world title holder, working well behind the jab while maintaining his power and willingness to land big shots.
Chisora was not surprised that Wardley was the winner, sharing that he had predicted the Briton to stop Parker before the fight.
He added, “I knew this kid was tough as nails.” “When I spare him and kill him, he keeps coming back. Fabio Wardley did amazing things for himself, for his family. I said it from day one.”
A veteran of 49 contests, Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) was in attendance at the O2 Arena to fully confirm his next fight, A trilogy match with Dillian Whyte.
