Bhopal, October 27 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh BJP chief Hemant Khandelwal on Monday said the Chief Minister Mohan Yadav-led government will take strict action against those involved in criminal activities.
Khandelwal made this statement while reacting to the involvement of BJP leader Mahendra Singh Nagar in the murder of farmer Ram Swaroop Nagar in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.
Khandelwal said the issue was brought to his notice on Monday and reiterated that the BJP does not support any such activity.
Khandelwal told IANS, “This matter is in my cognizance. Be it the matter of the party or the government, if such a matter comes up, we take strict action.”
He further said that Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s government consistently acts decisively and in every case the administration ensures that strict action is taken against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Guna district BJP chief Dharmendra Sikarwar has confirmed Nagar’s affiliation with the party and demanded his immediate expulsion.
Sikarwar said, “Mahendra Nagar is a party worker and local booth chief. We have written a letter to senior party leaders demanding his immediate removal.”
According to informed sources, Mahendra Nagar was among the Congress workers who joined the BJP in 2020 after Jyotiraditya Scindia and 22 loyal MLAs quit the party, leading to the fall of the Kamal Nath-led government.
Guna is one of the three districts in the Gwalior-Chambal region that forms the Guna Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Meanwhile, SDOP Vivek Asthana told IANS on Monday that Mahendra Nagar and his relatives surrounded Ram Swaroop, brutally attacked him with sticks and caused serious injuries. He died during treatment.
“14 people have been booked under various sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), including murder. One accused has been arrested and the others are being traced,” he said.
