Election Commission of India begins second phase of special intensive vetting in 12 states, releases list of documents for voter verification.

The Election Commission of India on Monday announced the launch of the second phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 states and union territories.
As part of the ongoing exercise, the Commission also released a list of indicative (not exhaustive) documents acceptable for voter verification. These include:
Identity card or pension payment order issued to regular employees/pensioners of Central or State Governments or PSUs
Any identity card, certificate or document issued by the Government, local authorities, banks, post offices, LPG agencies or PSUs in India before July 1, 1987
Birth certificate issued by competent authority
Passport
Matriculation or Educational Certificate from a recognized Board or University
Permanent residence certificate issued by the competent state authority
forest rights certificate
OBC/SC/ST or any caste certificate issued by competent authority
National Register of Citizens (where applicable)
Family register prepared by state or local authorities
Any land or house allotment certificate issued by the government
The Commission further said that for Aadhaar, instructions issued vide letter No. 23/2025-ERS/Vol.III dated September 9, 2025 will be applicable.
