Theft in the Lucknow house of former Karnataka DGP; Jewellery, cash theft

Lucknow, October 27 (IANS) A theft has been reported at the Lucknow house of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Mahendra Kumar Srivastava, where thieves have stolen jewelery and valuables worth several lakhs of rupees. Officials gave this information on Monday.

The items stolen included an extensive collection of gold and diamond jewelery such as necklaces, chains, earrings, tops, bracelets and more. Apart from this, 40 grams of gold coins are also reported missing.

Rishika Raj had lodged this complaint at Aliganj police station. She told that she lives with her family at the house of her maternal uncle Mahendra Kumar Srivastava in Aliganj Sector-G.

Her husband Nitin Kumar Srivastava is currently working in Salalah, Oman. On October 16, Rishika and her family handed over the house to their long-time servant Akash Rawat and left for Salalah to meet him, who was scheduled to return to his village after Diwali.

According to the complaint, Akash performed Diwali puja on October 20 and the next day he locked the house and went to his village. However, on the morning of 26 October, when he returned to collect his vehicle, he found several locks broken and household items strewn about.

He immediately informed the family and also contacted Nitin Kumar Srivastava. When Rishika Raj returned to Lucknow, it was found that the cupboard was broken into and cash and jewelery had been stolen.

Rishika in her complaint gave details of the stolen items, which included approximately Rs 2.25 lakh in cash, eight gold bangles, eleven gold chains, four gold bangles, two gold lockets, five large gold sets, three diamond sets, two gold bangles, twenty-four pairs of gold jhumka-tops, five diamond pendant sets and gold coins weighing approximately 40 grams.

All the jewelery belonged to Rishika, her mother-in-law and her daughter.

He also said that the thieves also took away the DVR of the CCTV cameras installed in the house and the Airtel Xstream TV box.

Following the report, Aliganj police registered an FIR against unknown persons under sections 305 and 331 (4) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).

Currently investigation is going on and more information is awaited.
