New Delhi/Victoria (Seychelles), October 26 (IANS) Vice President CP Radhakrishnan attended the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Patrick Herminie, who took over as the President of Seychelles, at the Unity Stadium in Victoria.

The Indian Vice President conveyed the greetings and good wishes of the Government and people of India, reaffirming New Delhi’s commitment to its long-term partnership with the Indian Ocean island nation.

Earlier on Sunday, the Indian Vice President also held a meeting with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam in Seychelles and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.

In a statement shared on Twitter, the Vice President’s Office said, “Hon’ble Vice President Shri CP Radhakrishnan met His Excellency Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Prime Minister of Mauritius, in Seychelles. The leaders reflected on the strong and enduring ties rooted in shared history and culture and discussed ways to further strengthen India-Mauritius bilateral relations.”

CP Radhakrishnan had also addressed members of the Indian community in Seychelles and highlighted the “long-standing and multifaceted relations” shared by the two countries. He appreciated the role of Indian diaspora in further strengthening bilateral relations.

“Hon’ble Vice President Shri CP Radhakrishnan was warmly welcomed by members of the vibrant Indian community in Seychelles. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the long-standing, multifaceted relations between India and Seychelles and appreciated the role of the Indian diaspora in further strengthening bilateral ties,” the Vice President’s Office posted on Twitter.

Notably, CP Radhakrishnan is on a two-day visit to Seychelles to attend the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected President Patrick Harmini.

According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during the visit the Vice President will convey India’s warm greetings to Hermini and reaffirm the close, long-standing and time-tested relations between the two countries.
