After the accident, thousands of youth gathered outside the car owner’s house demanding action. The mob damaged property and clashed with the police.
Bemetara Superintendent of Police Ramakrishna Sahu said, “A car had met with an accident. An FIR has been lodged. The police will take strict action. One person died and several others were injured… It is not clear what the people are demanding.”
Police registered a case against the accused and took him away in a closed vehicle, but protesters tried to stop them. Later, the protesters took the dead man’s body to Bemetara police station, where a large crowd gathered demanding justice.
