Indore man faces 10 criminal cases for molesting and stalking Australian women cricketers

Akil Khan alias Nitra, 29, has been arrested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh for allegedly stalking and molesting two Australian women cricketers participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. Police said Khan is a habitual offender with a long criminal history.

According to Crime Branch’s Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia, Khan is originally from Khajrana but currently lives in Azad Nagar. ACP Himani Mishra, who met both the players and recorded their statements, told News18 that several criminal cases are already registered against Khan and the investigation is ongoing.

Reports suggest that there are at least 10 criminal cases against Khan, including charges of molestation, robbery, assault and attempt to murder. He was recently released from Bhairavgarh jail after serving 10 years of imprisonment. Some of the cases against him date back to 2012 and he has also been charged under the Arms Act and NDPS Act.

The incident happened when both the cricketers came out of their hotel to go to a cafe in Indore. A man riding a motorcycle allegedly followed them and touched one of them inappropriately before fleeing. A bystander noted the registration number of the vehicle, which led to Khan’s immediate arrest.

Police said Khan worked as a painter and his parents are labourers.
