New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS) The political fight in Bihar intensified on Sunday as JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar launched a scathing attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav after his latest press conference and series of election promises and questioned the credibility of Yadav’s announcements.
Taking a direct hit at Tejashwi, Neeraj Kumar said, “What is the political meaning of Tejashwi Yadav’s announcements when the alliance’s constituents are not even part of it? Tejashwi Yadav is accused in interstate economic and criminal cases – 27 cases are registered against him in Bihar, Delhi, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. This is Lalu Yadav’s socialism,” The opposition leader is accused in 27 cases, including Section 420. How can the public trust his promises?”
The JD(U) spokesperson further reminded that it was the Nitish Kumar government that had ensured representation for marginalized groups in the Panchayati Raj system. Pointing out the difference between the social justice claims of the ruling alliance and the opposition, he said, “Who gave representation to Dalits, extremely backward classes and women in Panchayati Raj institutions? Certainly not the RJD.”
Kumar also took a dig at Tejashwi’s elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav while commenting on his recent public appearance. He said, “Lalu Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav is roaming around with his grandmother’s photograph. If he had carried his parents’ photograph, we would have thought he was lying. After being sidelined by his parents, he is now roaming around with his grandmother’s photograph.”
Continuing his criticism, Neeraj Kumar said, “After being humiliated by his brother and receiving his sister’s political blessings through a tweet from Singapore, Tej Pratap’s political zeal has been awakened. He is more educated and the elder son, so he has every right to make promises to the public, at least he is not claiming to be a social justice warrior while facing 27 criminal cases. In comparison to Tejashwi, we believe Tej Pratap The number of cases against will be very less.
Earlier in the day, RJD leader and chief ministerial face of the grand alliance, Tejashwi Yadav, held a press conference and announced several welfare measures, including doubling the allowance for panchayat and gram kachari representatives and starting pension schemes for former members. He also said that the Grand Alliance wants only “20 months” to prove to the people of Bihar that change is possible.
Accusing the NDA government of corruption, unemployment and industrial neglect, Yadav said, “The people of Bihar are ready for change. They gave 20 years to the NDA, now give us 20 months.”
