Andhra Government prepares action plan for Cyclone Montha relief and essential supplies

Severe Cyclone Montha Tracker Live Updates: Indian Army is ready to rescue and evacuate people in Andhra Pradesh and other parts of the country as the Arabian Sea depression is moving westwards into the Bay of Bengal and turning into a severe cyclone and is likely to hit Andhra Pradesh on October 28. Cyclone Montha Live Updates: The Army has been put on high alert amid the formation of two major cyclonic systems over the East Central Arabian Sea and Southeast Bay of Bengal, which are expected to intensify into Severe Cyclone Montha within the next 48 hours.

Officials said the situation is being closely monitored in coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and concerned state governments to ensure preparedness and prompt response in sensitive areas. According to the update issued by the Indian Army at 5:30 am on Sunday (26 October 2025), two active weather systems are currently under observation.

The first system, a depression over the east central Arabian Sea, is located about 700 km west-southwest of Mumbai, 760 km west of Panjim (Goa), 880 km northwest of Lakshadweep and 960 km west-northeast of Mangaluru. Meteorologists predict that this system will move westwards across the Arabian Sea in the next 24 hours.

The second, a deep depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal, is located about 610 km west of Port Blair, 790 km east-southeast of Chennai, 850 km south-southeast of Visakhapatnam and 950 km south-southeast of Gopalpur in Odisha. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system is likely to develop into a cyclonic storm within 24 hours and into a severe cyclonic storm by October 28 as it moves north-westwards.

The Army and disaster management officials are ready to provide immediate assistance in any emergency arising out of changing weather conditions.
