Patna, Oct 23 (IANS) The long period of dispute and division between the two key grand alliance partners – Congress and RJD – which had tarnished relations and harmony, is going to end with a joint press conference of all the alliance partners on Thursday. The press conference to be held on the last day of withdrawal of nominations has triggered a series of sharp comments and sarcasm from NDA leaders.
The grand alliance is set to hold a joint press conference in the city and clear all doubts and apprehensions regarding its seat-sharing arrangement.
However, the poster of the Grand Alliance has created a new controversy, with BJP and JDU taking a jibe at keeping Tejashwi Yadav at the center in the poster. It also marks a deviation from the alliance’s campaign strategy as both Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav jointly led the 16-day Vote Adhikar Yatra, trying to unite voters against the Nitish-led government.
Both BJP and JDU leaders are taking a dig at the grand alliance poster put up at the press conference venue, which features only Tejashwi Yadav and no mention of Rahul Gandhi or any other alliance party leader.
Bihar BJP posted the picture of the poster on its X handle and wrote, “The huge infighting within the Grand Alliance has now become public. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi did not accept Tejashwi as his face. Now Tejashwi has removed Rahul Gandhi from the poster. This poster itself is an announcement of the breakup of the Grand Alliance.”
BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok sarcastically said, “The elder Yuvraj will visit Bihar after returning from Colombia, while the younger Prince is already here. The Yuvraj who took money from China will today sit with the Yuvraj accused in the Land for Jobs case. Both the corrupt persons are out on bail and today they will discuss the development of Bihar.”
JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar raised questions on the lewd joke going on in the name of alliance.
He said, “The total number of assembly seats in Bihar is 243 and the number of Grand Alliance candidates is 255. Only Tejashwi Yadav can understand this arithmetic.”
In the press conference, he raised questions on the poster and said, “It only has the picture of Tejashwi Yadav, where are the pictures of the leaders of the other constituent parties? Why are the leaders of the constituent parties not in it?”
