Mantralayam, Oct 22 (IANS) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress chief DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said his party will work together as per the instructions of the high command leadership.
The Deputy Chief Minister said, “Whatever decision the party takes, we will work together accordingly. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also said the same thing. And I am committed to the Chief Minister’s words.”
On Siddaramaiah’s son and Congress MLC Yatindra Siddaramaiah’s comment on leadership change in the state, Shivakumar said, “I don’t know what Yatindra has said on the issue.”
He said, “The party has given me everything. I am the party president. As Deputy Chief Minister, I have handled big responsibilities. The party has given me everything it could.”
Earlier, Yatindra Siddaramaiah had said that his father is at the last stage of his political career and PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi will take the lead in guiding those who follow scientific and progressive thought.
His statement sparked debate in the state; However, Yatindra later clarified that there will be no change of leadership in the state.
Yathindra said, “Our high command has made it clear that there will be no change of leadership in Karnataka. Whenever elections come, the BJP claims that there will be a change of leadership. But we know the reality within our party.”
He reiterated, “There is no discussion of change of leadership in the state. Our high command has made it clear time and again.”
Shivkumar also said that no one is bigger than the party. He said, “Party workers should remain dedicated to the party. We have not given any room for factionalism or such politics. If I wanted to indulge in factionalism, I could have done anything. But it is of no use.”
