Bengaluru, Oct 22 (IANS) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Yatindra Siddaramaiah on Wednesday clarified that there will be no change of leadership in the state.
Yathindra said, “Our high command has made it clear that there will be no change of leadership in Karnataka. Whenever elections come, the BJP claims that there will be a change of leadership. But we know the reality within our party.”
Earlier, Yathindra had claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was at the last stage of his political career and had also hinted that PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi would play his father’s role.
Yatindra reiterated, “There is no discussion of change of leadership in the state. Our high command has made it clear time and again.”
He said that all the discussions regarding change of leadership are speculations, Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala has also said that there will be no change in the state leadership.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said party workers should remain dedicated to the party, adding that the leadership has given no room for factionalism or any politics.
He said, “If I had to indulge in factionalism, I could have done anything. But there is no fun in doing such politics.”
Earlier, Yatindra’s statement sparked debate in political circles in the state as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that he will complete his full term and lead the party in the next assembly elections.
However, there are some MLAs and supporters in the Congress who insist that Shivakumar should be allowed to become the chief minister considering his contributions to the party.
