The BBC has confirmed that hit sitcomStarring lucy punchReturning for a second season in 2026 with a Christmas special set to air later this year.
The cast also includes Saunders, who will play Aunty Joan, the sister of Lumley’s Felicity character.
BBC Aunt Joan was described as a “country-living, feisty upper-class snob’s ball – very, very different from Felicity”.
The Christmas special will be Saunders and Lumley’s first scripted on-screen appearance together since 2016. Absolutely brilliant: the movieThe stars played the anarchic and hedonistic couple Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone in the famous sitcom, which premiered in 1992.
Saunders said of the role: “I’m delighted to be involved in a fantastic film Amandaland The gang for the Christmas special. Playing Joanna’s on-screen sister will definitely be hilarious, who doesn’t love a Soha-style family reunion!”
Fans of both stars have already hailed the move as genius casting from the Amandaland team.

Amandaland Stars lucy punch As Amanda, A arrogant and a recently divorced mother of two who has downsized her home and is attempting to build relationships with new and old friends.
Lucy Punch, who plays Amanda, said in a press release: “I’m so excited to start Amandaland series two with our fabulously talented beautiful cast. The Christmas special is going to be an absolute cracker – it’s like Toots’ Fire, with all the festive feel, really. Slay the bells!”
Co-writer and producer Holly Walsh and co-writer Laurence Rickard say: “It’s such a pleasure to be back in Soha (South Harlesden) again. After six months of researching Brent Council’s fly tipping rules, attempting Anne’s Irish accent and writing the odd script, we’re so excited to be filming with our amazing cast.
