Agartala, Oct 21 (IANS) Former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb, who is the BJP’s co-in-charge for West Bengal, on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that law and order in the state has collapsed and “human values no longer exist” under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s rule.
Union minister Bhupendra Yadav and BJP’s Lok Sabha member from West Tripura parliamentary constituency Deb were last month appointed as in-charge and co-in-charge respectively of the party’s campaign for the crucial West Bengal assembly elections next year.
Deb alleged that there are no human values left in West Bengal under TMC rule.
“Incidents of rape, murders and arson are continuing,” she said. “Despite having a woman chief minister, the rich heritage and culture of the state has been destroyed. The sacred land which has given birth to many great thinkers and eminent personalities is now being tarnished,” Deb told the media after offering prayers to Goddess Kali.
He expressed strong confidence that there will be a change in West Bengal in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections and BJP will come to power under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Deb claimed that the Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee) behaves like a “monster”.
He said, “Women are generally known for their gentle nature, but she has changed this perception.”
Without directly naming Banerjee, Deb also raised questions about the alleged accumulation of wealth by her relatives and party associates.
He said, “The people of Bengal are eagerly waiting to remove the TMC government in the assembly elections next year.”
Drawing a historical analogy, Deb compared Banerjee to Mir Jafar and accused her of tarnishing his name.
He said, “Just as today no one names his child Mir Jafar because of his betrayal, one day no girl will be named Mamta because she has dishonored that name by her actions.”
Deb further alleged that TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee is linked to the land mafia and claimed that the people of West Bengal are determined to end “illegal activities and corruption” under the Trinamool Congress rule.
The former Tripura CM said, “This time, the fight in Bengal is not just political; it is to protect human values and free Bengal from these demons.”
