IF Improvement Britain ever held power at Westminster, many Independent Readers believe it will look exactly as it is happening in kent – Chaotic, divided and out of control.
Our community is reacting after footage emerged of council leader Linden Kemkaran berating colleagues and telling them to “suck it up”. Suspension of four councilors From the “head” of the reform Kent County Council,
Reform took control of the authority with a shock victory in local elections earlier this year, ending three decades of Conservative rule.
Many saw the incident as evidence that reform was “exploding”, arguing that the chaos in Kent demonstrated that the party was “unfit to govern”.
Some cited the Elon Musk-inspired Dolge plan of reform as evidence of a group playing politics rather than giving serious governance.
Meanwhile, others accused the party of hypocrisy – promising efficiency and lower council taxes but now mired in scandal and infighting.
Here’s what you had to say:
at least they show up
What did people expect? They are all right wing councils Have proven useless in the past – why did he think the rebranding of Farage and his right-wing colleagues would be any different?
However unlike Faraz, at least he comes forward to do his job. The people of Clacton are still wondering when they will see their MP.
Reform could not conduct parent-teacher meeting
The Reformation could not even run a parish council. Or parent-teacher meeting. Doge? This is a public office, not a business.
They will simply cut vital services while retaining contracts and tenders for the ‘boys’. Then say, look at the numbers. This is nonsense. I work for a local council – that’s how it works.
And telling people to do that if they disagree? sounds familiar. So when people say ‘they can’t be worse than blah-blah’ – oh yes, they can. nasty. They will enable Labor and the Tories.
the deck of cards is exploding
The cards are blowing (the cards in more ways than one) and this is just the beginning. The reality is that they can’t even run their own bathroom, let alone a small council – imagine the chaos it would cause if they got the chance to run our country.
There won’t be a single reform councilor left soon
There will soon not be a single reform councilor left.
More than 30 have been expelled, suspended or resigned since the local elections. So not all bad news.
With what reputation did the Reformation begin?
Defamed the party? along with many other such embarrassments by inexperienced, incompetent or even teenage councilorsWith what reputation did the Reformation begin? And with Brexiteer Farage lying as its owner – sorry, leader – it can’t get any worse, can it?
Hate does not equal competence in governance
We have seen this behavior in councils before. It may be easy to get elected on the support of some form of hatred, but time and again (and not just with reforms) we see that hatred does not equal competence in governance.
‘We know best’ brigade strikes again
Oh dear. In every way, these people appear to be crazy about power, just like local politicians of any party. They are truly typical of the ‘we know best’ brigade of annoying and expensive wasters who impose stupid policies on local people to the detriment of business, ratepayers and shoppers.
This saying is also typical: “Those who want power should never be allowed to have it.”
preview
Take a look at Kent County Council, where Reform was elected on the promise of saving millions from “ruin”. The trouble is they can’t find any and council tax is now likely to rise by a maximum of 5 per cent. Reform councilors are fighting like cats in a sack as their baseless promises meet reality.
This is a preview of what we’d get if we voted in these dubious chancers on a national level.
An unexpected disaster at Westminster
I am not surprised by the reform councilors quarreling like this. Running an administration is a serious job. It shows a lack of experience and, even more worryingly, a lack of respect for democratic functioning. If they can’t get things done at council level, they will be an unmitigated disaster at Westminster.
Reform would not be a wise option in the next general election.
Labor is showing us what they really are. The Lib Dems and Greens are not serious contenders.
Therefore, the election depends on a reformed Tory party. I think he has learned his lesson and has experience. The country should vote for him in the next general elections.
Can reform govern?
It’s easy to stand on a soapbox or stage with a microphone and shout slogans you think people will want to hear. Being in government, whether local or central, is very, very difficult.
The election campaign reforms are very effective, as proven by their polling, but the jury is out on their ability to actually rule. The ten local authorities they currently control are a litmus test.
Local election is a protest vote
Labor and Conservative-controlled councils are absolutely dreading their next local elections because, for many, it is almost certain that Reform will dominate.
While many voters will ultimately abstain from voting for a reform Westminster government, local elections are used as a protest vote – and those boats show no signs of stopping.
We will explode with Farage as Prime Minister
We can laugh all we want at the reforms – make fun of them, make jokes – which we did to Trump supporters, only for him to get re-elected and take our country on a path we once could not have imagined. The madness that is America today is a sad day for all of us. We have already allowed them to separate us from the EU, causing great harm to ourselves.
Unless Labor and the left start addressing the real issues that ordinary reform supporters (and all of us) face – good jobs, decent affordable housing, a decent NHS, a decent education system – reform will fall into disrepair. Yes, we also have to control immigration, but that (almost) becomes a moot point when the economy is doing well for the average person, not just the already rich. At least it can be said that the inequality between the richest and those at the bottom is obscene. Otherwise, we too, like America, will explode with Faraz prime minister.
low turnout
What I find completely disappointing is that, taking America as a template, other parts of our demographics are very willing to be ruled by the first part.
In the US, despite a first term, millions of so-called ‘decent’ Americans have decided to sit out the 2024 elections and give them another chance. Many ‘decent’ Americans would rather ‘send a message’ through an empty ballot box than vote for the only woman who can stop Trump.
We are seeing the same here also. Those councilors were elected fairly, with approximately 30 percent voting. Thousands of ‘decent’ Kentish people had better things to do than walk to the polling booth and vote to stop the spreading rot.
I bet if they held council elections again on Thursday, turnout would be about the same and a handful of voters would really decide the outcome.
Instead of posturing and ‘sending messages’, the better end of the demographic is needed use your vote To stop these clowns.

Reform is not a real political party
Here’s the simple and obvious reason why Reform didn’t sink – it’s because it’s not a real political party. This is a limited company vehicle Nigel FarageBluff of. Without that, there is no improvement.
For me, it is simply impossible to imagine that Farage and his band of ex-Tory mediocrity will be able to keep it together in the medium term.
