The position of Forest manager has proven perilous in recent months, with Nuno Espirito Santo sacked despite turning the club from a relegation candidate to a candidate for European qualification.
The Portuguese boss was sacked in early September after relations with Marinakis deteriorated.
And while Postecoglou delivered sardonic messages during his time at the helm of Forest, reiterating in last Friday’s press conference that “the story always ends the same way… me with a trophy”, he will not get the chance to prove himself in his famous second season as Forest were left looking for their third manager of the season in as many months.
Dyche has been tipped as the man to guide the club out of this crisis, with the highlights of the Englishman’s career so far coming during his decade-long stint at Burnley, after which he landed his first job at Watford.
The 50-year-old has led the Clarets back to the Premier League on two occasions; First in 2014, before suffering immediate relegation to the Championship the following season, and again in 2016, keeping them in the top flight for the next six years.
His first test will come in the Europa League – this season marks the first time Forest have played continental football in 30 years – as his new team travel to Porto still looking for their first win.
