Indian MBBS student suffers brain stroke in Russia, airlifted to Jaipur

A 22-year-old MBBS student from Rajasthan, who was fighting for life in Kazakhstan after suffering a brain stroke, was airlifted to Jaipur on the evening of October 20.

Rahul Ghosalya, a resident of Shahpura in Jaipur and a medical student at Astana since 2021, suffered a brain stroke on October 8 and was on ventilator support at a hospital there.

He was brought to Jaipur by air ambulance and taken to SMS Hospital under the supervision of medical and district administration teams. Officials said that he has been admitted to the medical ICU.

A team of doctors under the leadership of SMS Medical College Principal Deepak Maheshwari has started his treatment. The hospital has formed a four-member panel to take care of him.

A special critical care ambulance and medical team were deployed from SMS Hospital for the transfer.

Rahul’s parents had earlier appealed through social media to the central and state governments to help bring him back to India for advanced treatment. Several social organizations had joined the family’s efforts to facilitate his evacuation.
