Bengaluru, October 20 (IANS) Karnataka’s RDPR, IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge has said that permission is required to organize Namaz in public places. He clarified that permission is mandatory for organizing any program in public places.
While talking to journalists in Bengaluru on Monday, Priyank Kharge gave this statement while answering a question. He said, “There is no mention of any organisation, religion or caste in our order. Even me, you (media) and everyone else will have to take permission. That’s all. The rules are the same, whether it is former minister KN Rajanna or BJP state president BY Vijayendra who is making any comment.”
It may be recalled that former minister Rajanna, while questioning his own government’s order making it mandatory for all organizations to take permission from authorities, had asked whether anyone questions the permission when namaz is offered in a public ground. He also suggested that if the laws were not practical then they would remain only on paper.
Priyank Kharge further said, “Our order making it mandatory for private organizations to take permission for organizing events in public places has not mentioned the name of any organization. Then why is there this confusion? For the first time in the country, we are facing a strange situation where leaders are openly declaring that they will not follow the law and organizing ‘pathsanchalan’ (foot march).”
He said, “They (RSS) are refusing to provide documents to prove that they are a registered body. When asked who should be held accountable, they did not answer. What does this mean? They insist on organizing the event despite refusal. One of their members even threatened. Not a single leader has condemned it.”
“When a shoe was thrown at the Chief Justice of India (CJI), not a single BJP leader condemned it. When one of their leaders claimed that ‘patriots can enter our homes,’ not a single BJP leader objected. I pity the BJP. First, they give tickets to persons facing 20 to 30 cases, and then such people make threatening remarks. We will not do that. Our ideology may be different, but anyone It has no right. Threaten someone’s family,” said Priyank.
On the fresh application submitted by the RSS to organize a foot march in Chittapur town, his assembly constituency, he said, “Let them hold a foot march in Chittapur, they are welcome. This is not the first time that they are organizing such an event. The court has said that they will have to submit an application, and a decision will be taken depending on the situation. Is it wrong to ask for details of their programmes?”
“This rule applies to everyone. I am not targeting anyone. When he sought permission for a foot march on October 19, three other applications were also rejected. He had also asked to carry sticks – what should the government do in such cases?” he asked.
He said, “The central government has passed a law allowing government employees to participate in RSS activities. But as a state government, we do not agree with it. The service rules of the Center and states are different.”
When asked about Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s claim that RSS activities have been going on for hundreds of years without any untoward incident, Priyank Kharge replied: “Kumaraswamy himself wrote an editorial in a leading Kannada daily calling the RSS poison. Let the JD(S) leaders read it first. Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda had demanded a ban on the RSS and ABVP. What has changed now? JD(S) is not in favor of secularism.”
“Before making tall claims, BJP leaders should first send their children to protect cows and enroll them in RSS shakhas,” he said.
He said, “They have talked about my wife and her health, my brother and his health and even my father. Yet, they are not ready to answer a simple question – why are they not giving the registration documents? Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has praised the RSS as the world’s largest NGO. We are simply asking questions about the organisation.”
“Even in my letter seeking ban on RSS activities in public places, I had mentioned other organizations along with the RSS. All organizations are equally included in the order,” he clarified.
