Patna, October 20 (IANS) Amid the ongoing tussle in the Grand Alliance over seat sharing ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Monday took a sharp dig at his leaders and predicted that their friendly fight will turn into a big controversy.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Paswan said, “I am a student of politics, I study and analyze elections. But I have never seen such a big alliance coming so close to breaking in my lifetime. The dispute over some seats is understandable, but they have not even finalized the total number of seats yet. If the Grand Alliance members face each other in some constituencies, it will not be a friendly fight.”

The second phase of nomination for Bihar Assembly elections is ending at 5 pm today, but there has been no official confirmation of the seat sharing formula in the Grand Alliance.

On the other hand, NDA has announced seat sharing arrangement with BJP and JDU is contesting on 101 seats each, while LJPRV is contesting on 29 seats, HAM on 6 seats and RLM on 6 seats.

Extending greetings on the occasion of Diwali, Paswan said, “This year’s festival season has created a confluence of celebrations – Diwali, Chhath Mahaparva and the festival of democracy, elections. I believe this confluence will bring happiness to Bihar and its people.”

Meanwhile, BJP leader and former Union Minister Syed Shahnawaz Hussain reacted sharply to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks on Diwali celebrations.

Hussain said, “Why does Akhilesh Yadav find fault with the lamps during Diwali? The record-breaking Deepotsav in Ayodhya has been registered in the Guinness Book. If he cannot participate, at least he should not criticize it.”

He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with Naval personnel, continuing his tradition of celebrating the festival with the armed forces.

Hussain said, “Our soldiers stay away from their homes to protect the country. The Prime Minister celebrates with them as a mark of respect. I wish all citizens a happy Diwali.”
