Shimla, October 20 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Monday greeted and greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Diwali.
In a message, the Governor wished good health, prosperity and welfare of the people. He said that Diwali, the festival of lights, symbolizes the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.
He said that on this day, lamps are lit not only to illuminate our homes but also to rekindle the eternal truths and moral values of life.
In his Diwali message, the Chief Minister said that this festival not only illuminates our homes but also illuminates our hearts and society with the spirit of righteousness and collective goodwill.
He appealed to the people to celebrate the festival with peace, unity and mutual respect and contribute in building a progressive and prosperous Himachal Pradesh.
He wished happiness, prosperity and harmony for all on this joyous occasion of the Festival of Lights.
Deputy Chief Minister Agnihotri, in his message, said Diwali “conveys the message of love, compassion and brotherhood”.
He urged people to celebrate the festival with the spirit of togetherness so that the light of happiness and hope spreads in every home and every life.
A day earlier, Chief Minister Sukhu visited Tutikandi Children’s Ashram here and celebrated the festival of lights with the residents of the ashram. He said the state government has adopted the orphans as “children of the state” and is not only bearing their education expenses but also providing them Rs 4,000 per month as their pocket money.
Sukhu announced that a sports day would be organized for children of Bal Ashram every year on 14 November, for which the government would make adequate budget provision.
