Diwali is on 20th and 21st October, Govardhan Puja is on 22nd October and Bhai Dooj is on 23rd October. Considering the weekend of October 18 and 19, students will enjoy five consecutive days off.
According to officials, the declaration of the holiday respects the customs and allows communities across the state to participate in the planning, rituals and journey of the celebration. The decision has been issued ahead of Diwali, which falls on Monday, October 20, as per lunar calendar reference.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has announced a 12-day holiday from October 13 to October 24. Diwali, Bhai Dooj, and other regional festivals It is being included in the October schedules of many schools across India.
Schools in Jammu division have also announced extended holidays from October 19 to November 2. According to a formal circular issued by Manisha, a personal officer of the Directorate of School Education, Jammu, all government and approved private schools up to the senior secondary level will observe the puja holidays.
The next day of classes in Jammu schools is on Monday, November 3.
The administration has called on all schools to ensure that parents and children are aware of the official holiday schedule and make it clear when schools will reopen.
School administrators are also urged to remind students about the safety precautions to be taken during the festivities, especially around traveling and fireworks, and provide appropriate follow-up lessons when classes return.
